Letter : Washington, to William Pelham, and notebook from Pelham, 1808 July 12.

Jefferson thanks Pelham for his specimen passages written in several phonetic alphabets and notes Voltaire's efforts to reform the French language. He asks Pelham to send him Austin's book on the human character of Jesus. Also included is a notebook, 1808, of sample alphabets sent by Pelham to Jefferson.
